Top Universities in Asia - 2017

The Asia University Rankings of 2017 identify the 300 best schools and top universities in Asia, highlighting organizations in 24 distinct nations. Japan drives the path with 69 colleges highlighted in the positioning, with China being second among 54 great universities.

The consideration of 100 more top universities in the world this year (300, against 200 in 2016) has revealed the nations that may end up becoming key players in the so domain of advanced education, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan.

The Falling ranks of European Universities, a global trend

QS World University Rankings have been released for the 13th year running and the results are stark, to say the least. The most important observation to be made in respect to the top universities in the world is that Europe with its powerhouses like France, Portugal, Germany & Italy have disappointed, to say the least. But the worst hit is those institutions which are based in the U.K.

Of all the top universities in the United Kingdom, the University of Cambridge has slipped from third to fourth along with the King’s College, that used to be in the top 20 and now out of it. Experts and advisors in the Government are showing worrying signs and rightly so, as a visible fall in rankings for 38 of the total 48 institutions of the region.The drop in performance of educational hubs in here is complemented by the rise of a few Asian universities, particularly those based in China. China has had more entries as far the research hubs are concerned than U.K in top 100.

World’s Most Distinguished Universities 2016

Asia has 18 top ranking universities in the reputation rankings of the Times Higher Education 2016, up from the last decade. The top player-Japan’s University of Tokyo got the 12th place while China’s Tsinghua University and Peking University held on to 18th and 21st place. The National University of Singapore has got its place as the top university in Asia despite very tough competition from Chinese universities. This is the second time that NUS has been awarded as the top university in Asia after the University of Tokyo in 2016. The nations’ top players- Seoul National University and the University of Hong Kong, is in joint 45th place, up from the 51-60 band from last year.

Asia’s great performance on this year’s list of the world’s top ranking universities, based on the invitation-only survey of top universities, and this shows the continent’s increasing presence in the flagship The World University Rankings in the recent time.
