Ashtanga Yoga Meaning with 8 Limbs

The practice of yoga is an art and science dedicated to creating a union between body, mind and spirit. Its main objective of yoga is to stay fit and clam, Ashtanga yoga is one of style of yoga. In this yoga type We learn to sync our breathing with one pose to another pose. Ashtanga yoga is a combination of 8 Limbs.

In brief the eight limbs, or steps to yoga, are as follows:

  • Yama : Universal morality
  • Niyama : Personal observances
  • Asanas : Body postures
  • Pranayama : Breathing exercises, and control of prana
  • Pratyahara : Control of the senses
  • Dharana : Concentration and cultivating inner perceptual awareness
  • Dhyana : Devotion, Meditation on the Divine
  • Samadhi : Union with the Divine
